Over 200 attendees at the ARIA masterclass 2018

We would like to thank all participants of the 2018 ARIA Masterclass: ’from Guidelines to real life’, which took place at the Royal Academy of Medicine In Brussels, 12th September 2018.

The masterclass was not only motivational but offered considerable educational benefits to all 200+ participants. The learning and networking opportunities provided were particularly highly scored in the post event feedback.

ARIA is a non-governmental organization (NGO), part of EUFOREA, and working in collaboration with the World Health Organization. ARIA has developed the current guidelines for the treatment and management of allergic rhinitis and asthma. The initial guideline was released in 2008 (with over 4800 citations nowadays) and it is regularly improved to meet current needs in care management.

The ARIA masterclass has been developed by the ARIA network to facilitate the implementation of these guidelines into daily practices. Indeed, despite the guidelines, the management of allergic rhinitis and asthma is still not optimal in real life settings. Suboptimal management leads to patients with uncontrolled symptoms and additional cost for society due to improper medications.

Attendees of the ARIA masterclasses have been updated with the latest data from clinical trials as well as real-life data. In addition, participants received practical information about the best practices, including the latest diagnosis techniques for patients’ stratification and a presentation of all therapeutic strategies available nowadays. Finally, the role and benefits of novel technologies (mHealth tools) have been shared with attendees. The ARIA masterclass was accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 5 European CME credits (ECMEC®s).
